I'm BACK... To Creative Projects!

Before I had kids, well actually before I had two kids and was raising them on my own, I used to create beautiful things. I was a scrapbooker, created hand-made cards, and even hosted a couple of beautiful summertime luncheons. I also threw some amazing bridal showers, weddings, and babyshowers... those were some very creative years! About 5 years ago, between work, caring for two young children, and finding time to exercise, I stopped all creative activities (except the yearly Christmas card).  I've missed it!

Several months ago, I stumbled upon a blog, which lead me to another and another. I spent lots of time looking at the beautiful features; the creations of the bloggers, their parties, decorating, bakery creations, and I was INSPIRED! Thanks to The TomKat Studio, Pen n' Paperflowers, Fresh Chick Design Studio, Party Box Design, and Bella Cupcake Couture, among others...

I started thining about how I could try some of their ideas, and my daughter, Macy's, birthday, which happened to be approaching, seemed like the perfect opportunity. I started drawing on my computer, playing with designs and colors. I also talked to a great friend and colleague about her horses (Macy wanted a horse party). This lead to the Cowgirl Horse Party that I created. I'm SO proud of how it turned out, (even though I was called a "Party Nazi" on the actual day, I know it was all in good fun).

The party was at my parents' beautiful house on Whidbey Island; they were a huge help, as was my sister (photography courtesy of Angie, thanks Ang!). Macy loved the party and had the time of her life, as did her friends. I know this is just the beginning, (but don't worry Jeffy, I won't get carried away, I know I've already got TONS on my plate!)... I'm definitely back!

I think this is an appropriate first post to my new blog because I see this as an additional way to carry forth creative projects. I'm excited about capturing my life in a creative way again, even if it is in electronic format and not in a book.

  1. Very exciting Jennie! I started blogging and also getting my creative mojo back a few months ago-it feels great! The party is great and looks like it was just what Macy would have dreamed of!
